I had the pleasure of working with Kate for 2 years. During our work together, Kate showed such warmth and care for our youth. Going the extra mile to provide them comfort, containment, and strategies to manage their stressors. Kate attends to everyone with humility and compassion, while holding firm to treatment goals needed to move the youth forward in their work.

I don’t really know what it is but Kate is the one adult at my school who I go to for advice. I have been on the verge of dropping out of high school several times, but after opening up to Kate each time I have committed myself to getting my diploma. I’ve done a lot of stupid things over the three years I’ve known Kate and I was drinking a lot. She doesn’t tell me what to do but she listens to me and gives me advice without judging me. I really appreciate her support.

I noticed a difference after the first session that Kate had with my son. He was having difficulty socially, with his gender identification and with the recent separation of his father and I. She connected extremely well with him and I was so glad that my eight year old gained helpful coping skills during his sessions with Kate. She was communicative with me while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.

I have worked with Kate for six years and she has the confidence and skills to build trusting relationships with adolescence in general and more specifically with those who are more distrustful due to developmental stages and prior traumatic experiences. Kate is patient and deliberate with changing youth behaviors using structured and interactive sessions that build skills. Kate is not only is she an amazing clinician but also a great collaborator and team player.

Kate has been nothing short of supportive, kind, encouraging, understanding and gracious with our son from the first day she met him and his challenging behaviors at school. Kate was instrumental in helping his teacher and our family figure out a plan that allowed our son to gradually transition and ease into his day with minimal stress all while being accommodating to his special needs. Kate developed a great rapport with our son. As a mom, I can genuinely say, it was such a blessing and relief to have Kate there at school with my son to provide him with the emotional, social and physical support that he needed, especially during those difficult times when he had a hard time verbalizing his feelings. As a medical professional with a background in developmental pediatrics, I can say that Kate was developmentally appropriate in her approach to my son’s challenging behaviors. She knew when she could reason with him, how to calmly and patiently talk to him as well as recognized when he needed his space to process his feelings and act out. We highly recommend Kate and know she will continue to help many families and their children.

I supervised Kate for two years as she was initiating a brand new middle school wellness program in the largest public school in San Francisco. We met weekly and it was clear to me early on that she has extremely sound judgments and instinct when working with both complex and more straightforward cases. She worked with young people coping with anxiety; autism disorders, learning disabilities, depression as well as extremely traumatic experiences. Kate is an insightful and naturally gifted teacher and mental health clinician with much experience working with individual youth as well as running groups. She has an authentic care for young people and was able to connect with a diverse group of youth and families while maintaining appropriate boundaries. She is extremely knowledgeable about the emotional and behavioral needs of individuals and how to tailor interventions addressing those needs. Kate is a wise, creative, and empathetic individual who brings her many years of teaching, counseling, and leading to cultivate an environment where youth and parents grow and learn.

I had the pleasure of working with Ms. Kate Baker at an elementary school in San Francisco. She is compassionate, patient, approachable, personable, honest, reliable and prompt in responding to classroom needs. Kate was instrumental in helping of my students who had a difficult time adjusting to school. She worked in collaboration with the student’s parents on a daily transition into the classroom and it’s wonderful to now see this student thriving! Kate also led group Mindfulness sessions to improve the coping skills of my entire class. I’m grateful for Kate’s expertise and the opportunity to work with her.
