Clinical Supervision : Introduction
Obtaining licensure is a defining step in your career, it would be an honor to work with you on your journey!
I have been a site and clinical supervisor to over 30 graduate and post-graduate students since 2007. In this role I have worked with trainees in the MSW, MFT, Psychology and Counseling fields. As a clinical supervisor, I use a collaborative model and aim for my supervisees to feel supported, validated and safe to share doubts, concerns and questions.
My hope is that supervisees working with me don’t see our weekly sessions as only a required part of the licensing process, but a space of growth, inquiry and learning. Apart from preparing for licensure, my vision for supervisees is that they gain confidence in themselves as clinicians and develop a professional identity including an alignment with one or several theoretical orientations and comfort with mental health diagnosis.
I work best with those who are excited to set learning goals and participate in professional development (reading articles and original works, watching videos, doing role plays etc.) motivated and prepared each week to reflect on their practice and willing to leave sessions with action items to follow up with. While I do not consider myself the expert in our sessions, I am thrilled to learn together with my supervisees and share my knowledge and feedback.
